The geologic wonder called the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland along the Antrim Coast is truly impressive. A World Heritage Site, the coastline is comprised of 40,000 interlocking basalt columns. There are only a few places in the world like this. My visit in May 2017 was far too brief. Originally, I didn't even think I would be able to visit the area but decided to join a day tour out of Dublin up to the northern coast.
It rained most of the day and when we arrived, we had about an hour (including the hike from the parking lot and back up). There were hoards of tourists and the rocks were treacherously slick. It was windy and I had to constantly wipe my lens as light rain kept spotting it. All in all it was not the way I prefer to photograph. Surprisingly I did come out with a nice series of shots. Someday I hope to return and spend time there.
